Various Artists - Remixes EP

Various Artists - Remixes EP

Release Date: 04/10/2024

Label: Twist Recordings

Now two years deep in the game and with a string of well-received releases in the back cat, Twist Recordings are taking a moment to revisit some favourites. On this EP six hand-picked remixers deliver their takes on six of the label's biggest and baddest tunes.

First, Twist head honcho Classifyed gets his hands on Conrad Subs' 'Champagne Roller', seasoning it with some classic Full Cycle flavour and cranking up the funk levels.

Then Bristol vet Slix comes through with his interpretation of ADSR's 'The Bread Maker'. He's taken a scalpel to the insistent mid-range riffs of the original and sewn them back together in monstrous form.

Damageman's got his take on Classifyed's 'Straight from the Underground' next, adding some shuffle to the drums and bubble to the bassline of the original. This has got OG Bristol Sound vibes written all over it.

And then there's Conrad Subs' remix of Damageman's 'Packing Flames', Twist Recordings' first ever release, taking the original and reconfiguring it into a high-impact percussive skank-out.

J.O.E. takes on Slix's 'Pennywise', keeping the horror-flick influences and adding in twisted and fluctuating bassline variations to display whole new facets to the tune.

Finally we've got ADSR's version of J.O.E.'s 'Lemme Tell You One Thing' from TWIST002 released back in 2022. Broken down and rebuilt for today's parties with retooled beats and bass, this one hits hard.

These tracks have been given a whole new lease of life for 2024. They're going to be as irresistible to contemporary jump-up fans as they are to classic era heads.

Every one of the artists on this release has been rising through the ranks over the last few years, and Twist Recordings has been a major part of that journey. With A&R and quality control at the top of the agenda, it's clear that this imprint and the community of artists they've built are on the rise.
