Razlom: Drunk Drifter

Razlom: Drunk Drifter

Release- 12th January

Ignescent Recordings

By now Ignescent are no longer strangers to the music collections of drum & bass lovers. However, 2017 has been something of a monumental year for the imprint, one which has been solidifying all the reasons why they’ve become such a defining label within the independent market. And for their final release on the year, they’re about to detonate a two track offering from RAZLOM, producers who’ve brought the reckoning from their place within Russia’s drum & bass scene whilst conjuring their own chaos across Europe’s furthest corners. The trio bring forthcoming single ‘Drunk Funk’ and ‘Tokyo Drifter’ into the equation, pushing harder and harder with every layered set of drum beats. Following their debut releases on some of the most definitive labels within the genre’s grassroots, including Holland’s Major League platform, it’s no surprise that Ignescent brought them into their ranks. And on first listen to the double-sided single they’ve delivered, their destructive sonic power is unmistakable.

‘Drunk Funk’ is a track which has claws that snap at you between breaks; kicking harder and harder with every sixteen bar, RAZLOM begins how they mean to go on, leaving a set of sounds which reverberate throughout your ear drums. The Russian producers serve up the many factors as to why Russia is such a microcosm for drum & bass, bringing forward a jazzy intro whilst also detonating an intimidating drop. The instrumentals pulse throughout the track’s beginning, building you into a misleading drop, one which only gives it more impact when it finally cascades into an unforgiving bassline. Don’t be caught unaware by RAZLOM, because their world has become a breeding ground for music of this calibre.

‘Tokyo Drifter’ is your next example of RAZLOM’s formidable skillsets. The producers give a diverse flipside to their first track, presenting a liquid roller which pulls you through dainty note arpeggios and harmonic overtures, whilst its clacking zips of LFO sit underneath. ‘Tokyo Drifter’ reinvents the mood you already knew from RAZLOM and instead gives you another look into their repoitoire. And as Ignescent’s final release of this year, it also lays down a snapshot of the versatile roster they’ve been building throughout 2017.
