Ragga Twins’ Deman Rockers Road To Recovery

Untitled

Ragga Twins have been legends of the mic since the 1980s, initially rising to fame on London’s Unity sound system, before finding wider acclaim as part of the burgeoning rave scene on the seminal 1991 album ‘Reggae Owes Me Money’.

Brothers Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman have been a mainstay on the drum & bass / jungle circuit since the inception of the genre, regularly appearing on Kool FM and events such as One Nation, Breakin Science, and Innovation. Their 2014 collaboration with Skrillex opened them up to a whole new audience.

For some time now Deman Rockers, one half of the Ragga Twins duo, been experiencing mobility problems. Last month he took a fall outside his home, and was admitted to hospital. During this latest admission the medical professionals caring for him discovered a longstanding condition affecting his spine, that they’d not been previously aware of.

An operation to repair damage was swiftly carried out by our brilliant NHS, but Deman has been left bedbound and unable to perform shows. The long-term prognosis is uncertain.

The Long Road To Recovery

For the foreseeable future, while he recovers, Deman will be bed ridden and unable to perform at any shows along side his brother. To help him cover his day to day living expenses, and any long-term care issues that may not be covered by the NHS, the drum & bass scene has come together to help as he begins the long road to recovery.

A JustGiving page has been set up to help raise money to cover Deman’s financial outgoings while he’s laid up. They’re looking to raise a total of £10,000, which at the time of writing this article they’ve reached 43% of that target. Please go and help by donating whatever you can afford ustgiving.com

Deman has been lifted by the incredible support he’s received so far and he wants everyone to know that his spirit is strong, as he focuses on getting well.
