What a year 2020 has been for Oz, his debut LP ‘State Of Mind’ slammed into number 1 in the Juno Download charts and gained support from all corners of the scene. Released on Heists’ Co-Lab label, it hung around in the top chart positions for a month and just when you had a chance to breath he hit us with the Zombie Hunter EP on Calypso with more trademark dancefloor destroyers.
As a duo Oz and Dubbz have been hard at work. Their collaboration ‘Hunter’ was the highlight of the Zombie Hunter EP and alongside djing back2back for Ambush Family sets they have also been hard in the lab during lockdown preparing a whole range of ammunition. The first bullets the have decided to unload & follow up their debut joint AFT EP ‘Warp Drive’ are ‘A Better Way’ & ‘Chinese Silk’
A BETTER WAY – The vintage sample sets the mood, almost inviting you to sit down, light the fire and pour out some fine scotch; this however is unadvisable, as the build up flares and steps into some proper Bristol wobble and step that will smash that glass out of your hands. This is pure bouncing around with your people vibes, this is ‘A Better Way’.
CHINESE SILK - A super smooth intro lays way to an even silkier drop, some might say the cadburys caramel of basslines, with rolling drums that you can’t help but nod your head to & with delicately placed vocal, string & harp samples throughout this is Silkiness level:10/10. Now that is silky.
