He’s a producer most people who follow the label probably haven’t have heard of. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia he couldn’t be any further away from our label base in Brighton, but Onyx know Muted Hue very well. He’s a key part of the label team as our very own marketing wizard. He has done a lot of work behind the scenes on Onyx’s releases, but his own debut EP on the label has been long-awaited to say the least…
We’ve already been teased by his bootleg of Gary Jules’ ‘Mad World’ – a tune showing just how talented of a producer the 25-year-old is – but ‘Parting Ways’ is the release we’ve been waiting to share with you all. Trust us, it’s worth it. The EP takes centre stage as the release launching our new Jade series – one with a focus on bringing you the best liquid D&B. It’s now the third series we’ve launched, and an extra cog in the all-inclusive, 360 sound D&B machine Onyx are building.
Featuring four sublime productions, one of which is a hefty dancefloor-ready remix from fellow up-and-comer Invert Era, ‘Parting Ways’ offers a glimpse into the versatility of Muted Hue’s capabilities. From the title track’s ability to weave a beautiful narrative with the heartfelt vocals of Bazil MC, to the deep, indulgent vibe of ‘Horizons’ – a track packing a serious punch in its bassline. ‘Parting Ways’ has even been given the green light from the ultimate liquid D&B don LSB, whose track ‘Roots’ inspired Muted Hue to recruit Bazil MC in the first place.
