Toronto's Jungle Ambassador Marcus Visionary is not taking his foot off the gas in 2019. Fresh off a return to his main label Inner City Dance, he turns in the second release for his newly minted sister imprint Stereo One Music. Dedicated to exploring and celebrating the original Jungle sound, Stereo One is where his blatant dance floor aimed output will be landing. The Real Warrior EP carries this ethos forward with a quartet of floor focused rinse outs.
The title track is no nonsense, no prisoners Visionary. Lashing hard step beats, Sound clash samples and the much heralded, trademark Marcus Visionary bass line and crushing amen. Everything a dance floor needs to make it go crazy.
"It's You" takes the hard step/amen break combo further with endless chops, variations, filters and gates. You can feel Marcus in the studio smirking at you through the tune, knowing that his wizardry is whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Warp records style bleeps, mentasm, and riffs complete the picture while sultry RnB vocals and clashing soundman calls float over top.
On "Killing Mood" Marcus edges the BPM down a notch, more in line with original Jungle tempo, in order to let the weight of the track breath. Multiple classic breaks switch back and forth throughout keeping you on your toes while requisite soul and bashment vocals interchange creating a mesmerizing atmosphere.
“Ease The Pressure” pitches the bpm even further down to 150, allowing Marcus to pay homage to his 90's pedigree, with some Jungle Techno for 2019. All of the hallmarks of his sound are present creating the perfect blend of authentic vintage vibes with up to date production savvy.
