Solace is a name that has steadily been on the rise in recent months, with an EP on Halogen Music earning support from the prestigious Drum&BassArena, as well as winning Demand Record’s recent remix competition with his rendition of Wingz ‘Confined’. With releases on Subplate, Lifestyle, and Ronin Ordinance and appearances at Rampage, Sun & Bass and Bredren Invites under his belt already, the young Belgian producer certainly shows no signs of slowing down.

His latest offering comes in the form of two-sided single ‘Submerge/Impel’ on Impact Records. ‘Submerge’, the collaboration with Retrakt, delivers a deserved amount of anticipation with an ominous introduction slowly building into something much more sinister. Menacing yet elegant, Solace’s intelligibility shines through with incredibly clean sound design and flawless execution for one seriously weighted collaboration.

The flip-side of the single, ‘Impel’, shows us a much more visceral side to the producer, with bellowing basslines and a thumping groove that is sure to turn more than a few heads. A heavy track in every sense of the word, ‘Impel’ is loud and unapologetic; proving that to not expect big things from Solace would be foolish.

Steadily making waves in the world of drum & bass, Solace has delivered yet another remarkable release and is already beginning to build an impressive collection of records within his catalogue.
