NexGen Music sign up welsh duo, Casey Jones for their debut on the imprint. "Dark Star" EP contains four cuts of stomping bass weight. Buckle yourself in for lift off.
The pair are no strangers to the scene with several decades of DJ and production experience between them already. They've wasted no time in getting a string of releases on the shelves for labels like Technique and Hustle Audio. Regular ravers may have also caught them spinning tunes at events like Playaz, Hospitality and Concrete Junglists to name a few.
The Casey Jones sound draws from a host of D&B styles and frequently incorporates live instrumentation. They're committed to cutting a new groove for themselves and this EP is testament to that.
"Parallel" featuring the crisp vocals of Gemma Horne. This one lifts you up from the start with scintillating vox, piano and strings before abruptly switching gears into some dutty subterranean bass business.
Title track "Dark Star" lives up-to it's name. An ominous celestial sci-fi symphony radiating an aura of razor edged bass mayhem. Watch for the half time switch up. Next up is dance floor smasher "Two Weeks On Mars" with high and low frequency bass tones orbiting the mother ship and whispers of clever vox that are sure to devastate your speakers.
The final stage of the journey and "The Risk" continues the sci-fi film score atmosphere of the EP with the addition of aggressive robotic synths calling out to each other and pulling you with them for a stomping bass workout. Handle this one with care.
