4am Kru & Papa Levi - Ribena

Release Date: 16/08/2024

London production duo 4am Kru have been making waves in the UK jungle scene since emerging post lockdown, showcasing their immersive brand of 1994 flavoured jungle through their raucous live shows. They are rave athletes redefining live jungle music with shows that chip bones.

Initially meeting in indie bands, the duo seamlessly transitioned the live band setup into the underground scene, with their early shows seeing them set up directly on the dance floor surrounded by flying bodies and falling monitors. The electric atmosphere of their shows was particularly magnetic for fans who turned 18 in isolation and were rabid for their first night out.

Often comparing their shows to the theatricality and adrenaline of the WWE ring, their approach to performance is authentic and raw. Despite the physical toll, layers of hand taping, and chalk-covered hands - their passion for connecting to the crowd drives them to embrace the chaos of malfunctioning equipment and broken fingers. They even invented an entirely new way to play bass live through a Roland SPD SX drum pad as thick as a car tire.

Their debut album Incongnito Rhythm, named after the incognito nocturnal from post-midnight to 4am, captures the essence of their acclaimed live tracks.

Though their upcoming album specifically draws from the “magical” period of dance music evolution from 1992-1994, it also channels influences from obscure slow jams and R&B artists like Angela Bofill, Janet Jackson to early hardcore bands like Hüsker Dü and off-kilter Scottish folk music.

They’re teasing the project with a new single, 4am Kru & Papa Levi - Ribena
