Mac 2 Recordings
Mac 2 Recordings was founded in 1996 after the well known record shop, De-Underground Records in Forest Gate.
Randall & Coolhand Flex formed Mac 2 Records to keep that vibe they had collaborating with various artists at the time. Artists like A Sides, Rising Sun and Uncle 22.
Upon being the 7th interview this week, we took a quick chat to grab some info on the label.
Thanks for taking time out, I guess you're quite busy looking at the release schedules at the moment? What's new?
Hi. How ya doing? Well after the "Pieces” release we got a few EP's cooking with the likes of Zere from the States lined us up with a EP. Trex has been collabing with Jaybee aswell. Ep remix's coming off a track I did called "Broken Plates” feat Voltage, Will Miles and Jaybee, and an EP from Jam thieves, so we're good till next year atm. Very happy about that still...
1996 was an interesting time, moving from vinyl to digital over the past years. Do you ever have any vinyl releases now?
Was going to do some vinyl for the Album project but the backlog at the pressing plant put that to bed basically, but we will be doing vinyl releases in the future depending on the feedback for it to be honest.
The Uncle 22 & Navigator - Choose One (Serum Remix) caught my ear recently. How did that come about and when is it due for release?
Mark spoke to us and said he had been writing on this track for a while and knew that Uncle was from my De-Underground camp back in the day, so sent me the tune for our DMX Label (Stepback Sessions), but when I heard it I knew it was special and needed a better platform to go on.

Your label certainly has a distinctive sound running through on the releases. What do you look for in a good tune?
Just that the tune just has to have a vibe to it that I’m into and of course works in the clubs basically..
I really love Serum And Paul T, Want You Back (Trex Remix) - any more in the pipeline from these guys?
I hope so those guys are so busy with projects with other labels..hopefully will have something from them real soon…!

Actually guiness punch to be honest..lolol
What artists are you excited about right now and for the future?
Jaybee, Trex this new artist call Shoto who we just Signed some tracks to the label. There is a lot coming the at the moment.
Any label nights planned in the future?
Yeah there a few but leaving that to My Agent to deal with.. too much headache..lolol, my Agent is paddy@friendlypiranha.com
