JDNB Interview - Annix

Just as you thought it was safe to walk the streets, Annix crash land into your grimy little universe once again... Expect nothing less than a riot! The new single "I Like To" is a barking mosh of a jam with electrified bass! Annix and Crucast deliver once again... We last had a chat with Annix in 2017 so thought it was time for a catch up ahead of the release on 31st July 2020.
Hello again. It has been a long time since we last interviewed you and the world is a lot stranger now. How have you guys been coping during the Covid-19 Pandemic?
Good thanks, have had time to get lots of music done, so lockdown has had it's benefits
You recently hooked up with Kanine, K-Motionz, Skantia and Maksim on the Tunnel Vision LP on Playaz Recordings. Any more link ups we should all be getting excited about?
Since the album we've actually been focussing on writing less collaborations. We've been having so much fun with making music we haven't really felt a need to involve other artists. (Very selfish) however there's defo a few artists we really want to colab in the future. We'd love to do something with Mefjus. We started something with him in the past but it never reached the point we both wanted it to get to. Hopefully we can try again
Next up for you guys is 'I Like To' on Cru Cast, any other releases to keep our ears and eyes open for?
We have a really big announcement coming very soon but we still can't say too much. We have lots of music planned for the next few months
Bet you can't wait to be playing at drum and bass events again? Which festivals/events are you gutted to have missed this year so far?
Absolutely! Really looking forward to getting back out there. Let it Roll and Rampage are two we were really excited for as they are always great. We're also missing the smaller club shows loads
Are there any that you are booked for that are looking like they could still be going ahead?
We have some bits in Europe in September/October that can hopefully still go ahead
Name 3 up and coming producers whose tracks are on your usb that we should be keeping an eye out for?
And 1 track that never leaves your usb?
Sam Binga - Organic (Enei remix) ...great mixing tool
Bit of fun, If i was to give you £10k tomorrow to put on an 'Annix and Friends' event, who are we seeing perform alongside yourselves?
Hmmm I guess we'd want Noisia if that could cover their fee.
What is your studio set up like? And what are your fav go to plugins?
We built a studio at the end of 2018 which has been a godsend for us. It's fairly basic equipment wise but the sound in there is fantastic. We have focal Twin 6 be monitors which are amazing. The main plug in we use is 100% Serum you can pretty much make full tunes using just Serum.
And do you have a set process when putting a track together?
There's no set route, it's different every time.
What advice would you give to any aspiring producers that are looking to get their tracks heard by the major labels?
Persevere and try not to get disheartened from failure. Keep at it and keep trying to learn new stuff.
What do you prefer the most: Producing or Djing?
Both are fun and rewarding in their own way for different reasons. Djing your own productions and seeing the reactions is a great feeling.
What can we expect from you guys for the rest of 2020 and beyond?
Lots of new music.
What do you love about the www.jungledrumandbass.co.uk website the most?
Nice straight forward layout with all information easily accessible.
Thanks so much for your time, lastly any thanks or shout outs?
Thanks to anyone to has supported and continues to support Annix and allows us to carry on doing what we love doing.
