A decade of liondub international interview with Lost City

A decade of liondub international interview with Lost City
After checking out their new release on Liondub international I wanted to find out little more about Lost city

Who is Lost city and where are you from?
Lost City is made up of veteran producers/DJ's Noah D and No Thing. We have lived up and down the west coast of the US but currently reside in Los Angeles, CA.

Production or Dj’ing?

If we had pick only one we’d probably both pick production. Main reason being that it allows for more creativity overall. At the same time we both love performing and appreciate a lot of the nuances of DJing.

How did you get into Jungle & Drum’n’Bass?

We both got into Jungle in the late 90’s going to Cali. Jungle parties put on by crews like Eklektic and Respect, listening to albums like Photek’s “Form and Function” on the way to a see R.A.W. murder the dance. The music really spoke to us when we were young. It was wild and rebellious and nothing else could step to the bass pressure!

Jungle or Drum’n’Bass?

Jungle. But we also love tons of DNB. We only shy away from the overly techy stuff.

Your new EP out on the liondub International Street Series “RUN THE NIGHT”...what was your main musical Influence when producing that EP?

We basically just wanted to put out some heavy duty dance floor tunes. Most of Lost City’s past releases have had full vocals. We love doing that stuff but we thought it was important to release some music that could hold it’s own as instrumentals.

It’s liondub international’s 10 year anniversary this year. As a US label it stands up there with some of the biggest Jungle/DnB labels from the the UK. How do you feel being a part of the Liondub family?

It’s a perfect home for our sound and we can’t imagine finding someone as supportive as Lion has. He’s got tons of connections with the Jamaican scene so it makes perfect sense for us. He’s also been more proper and straight up on the business end than any other label we’ve ever worked with.

What are your favourite Tracks and Producers right now?

Loving a lot of the stuff that has been coming from Chase & Status, Shy FX, Sam Binga and Kings of the Rollers just to name a few.

What were the main labels you used to buy back in the day?

Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, Hard Leaders, 31, Soul:r, CIA, Dread, SIgnature, Critical

You’ve already released a full length LP for Liondub not long ago, can you tell us a bit about it?

We had a lot of fun making that EP. It was the first time since the inception of Lost City that we had access to so many great original vocal tracks to work with. We were still trying to develop our sound and were making tunes with tempos ranging from 140-170bpm and working with a lot of different beat structures. As of late we’ve settled in around 170-180bpm but who knows what the future holds!

What’s in the future for lost city, a new Album maybe?

After the Street Series EP we have some remixes of the Rumble material coming out on Liondub Intl. Then we have an EP releasing with Aries’ Born On Road label called “JNGL FIRE EP”, some big tunes on that and back to a more instrumental focus. Then we bounce back to Liondub Intl. to begin a series of singles with different vocalists. We’re very excited about that project as it will have some great original vocals and will encompass not only DNB and Jungle but future Dancehall sounds as well.

Any other remarks you’d like to make, and where can people find you online?

Just want to send out tons of love to all the people out there who are supporting. We really enjoy making this music and it’s very cool to see it being enjoyed by others around the world!
