Optiv presents: Transforma
Release October 27th
Red Light Records
Having cultivated his love for music from the tender age of fourteen, it’s no surprise Transforma has become such a formidable force within Australia’s elite drum & bass community. However, he’s spread himself even further across its reaches, becoming a household name within the European market and slowly etching his place within its very fabric. Although spending over a decade perfecting his skills, highlighted throughout each one of his immaculate productions, the only conclusion was that he’d cement his place amongst the genre’s heavyweights with every release.
For his forthcoming release, Transforma’s meticulous engineering and impeccable work standard has been given a platform by Red Light Records, who have time and time again shown a penchant for drawing out the records which characterise the Neurofunk scene. Alongside his complex melodic composition and tightly fashioned drums, Transforma provides his own take on the drum & bass world’s underbelly. As well as releasing records on the likes of Mindtech, Kinetik, Druid and more, he’s received wide spread support from some of the biggest taste making platforms available.
Whilst the A-side ‘Raveolution’ is orchestrated by its crackling LFO bassline and nastily carved hooks, flipside ‘Breaking Point’ pushes forward with metallic beat patterns and manic drum peddles. Together, they present a no-holds-barred, unbridled uptake on the 174bpm realm, opening up a level of sound design which many can only attempt. ‘Raveolution’ begins with a tell-tale vocal sample, one which sets the scene and lends itself to the climatic drop which leaves you freefalling into a cataclysm of shattering percussion and aggressive layering. On the other hand, ‘Breaking Point’ still channels the same aggressive atmospherics but ups the pace as the track jumps between each snapping segment. With high ranging grooves and an uncompromising mix down, allow Transforma to take you onto the dancefloor’s shadier surfaces. This release goes on to showcase why he’s received backing from a wide-range of high-ranking producers, from Mefjus to Noisia. And after bringing his music on tour, spinning each of his sonic masterpieces all around Australia, New Zealand and Canada, the future is set to be even more explosive.
